John K. C. Hyslip

John K. C. Hyslip is a private investor who has originated, underwritten and negotiated over $4 billion of commercial property transactions, $1 billion of which was for his own account.

At AEW Capital Management, Hyslip played various roles.  For AEW Securities, he originated the strategy of establishing an exchange fund for holders of limited partnership interests known as OP Units.  For AEW International, Hyslip evaluated direct investment and venture capital opportunities in Eastern Europe.  As Asset Manager for the AEW Institutional Real Estate Services, he was responsible for managing all industrial development activity and an 8 Million square foot, $500 million national portfolio of commercial property on behalf of major corporate and public pension funds and endowments.

Prior to his work with AEW, Hyslip served as Director of Real Estate for N.F.I. Industries while studying and passing the CPA exam in 1993.  Prior to NFI Industries, at the Trammell Crow Company, Hyslip acted as Project Manager and Broker of record, while attending the Wharton Business School earning his MBA in 1988.  While a student at Alfred University he formed Hyslip Development Company capitalizing on the exogenous growth in demand for off-campus housing that followed a change in the drinking age from 18 to 21 by controlling 65 residential units without any equity capital.  Hyslip holds Series 7 and 63 licenses and is a CFA (Part III Candidate).
